Hello Neighbor,

If you are looking to do any exterior renovations or additions, please follow the instructions below:

1. Some upgrades do not require an application. Please contact the ARC for Exemption details. If you are
   uncertain if your proposed project requires an ARC Application approval, you may send your questions
   regarding your proposed project to the email listed below.
2. Fill out the ARC application for ARC review by printing the ARC Application and filling in with blue or
   black ink. Once completed, and you have assembled all your project documents required download
   and submit your ARC Application to the email listed below.
3. Ensure that all names that appear on your deed, registered with Sussex County, appear on the ARC
   Application for Exterior Alteration in both printed & cursive forms found on Page 2.
4. Provide a Clearly marked copy of your site plan that you received at closing with the desired changes,
   upgrades or additions you are requesting an ARC review & approval for. Include all project work
   dimensions, changes to down spout or sump discharge locations any added electrical, gas, or plumping
   requirements, above or below ground connections.
5. If any changes, upgrades or additions are being requested, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to
   ensure the appropriate permits are received from all required state and local agencies prior to starting
   any project.
6. If the work is being performed by the homeowner or friend, you do not need to provide proof of
   insurance or contractor’s license. Please indicate on your application that you are performing work by
   yourself.
7. If the work is being handled by a contractor: Please provide a copy of the contractor’s license and a
   certificate of insurance which is up to date. In addition, please provide a copy of the contractor’s scope
   of work detailing material, color and design. It is not necessary to provide cost of work to the ARC team.
8. Any project installing any device or appliance connected to or using a utility (water, gas or electric) will
   require the homeowner/contractor to provide necessary licenses & certificate of Insurance for all sub-
   contractors. (Example: BBQ grill, Firepit, Hot Tube, Decorative Water Fountain)
9. All paperwork must be scanned and submitted as a PDF file, MS Word file or JPEG file. No photos.
